HAPPY LUNAR NEW YEAR!
Every year my family hosts Tet (aka Vietnamese word for Lunar New Year) which is a one of the biggest family celebration extravaganza~~! Lots of fun which means lots work to prepare. Lots of work, sweat, and frustration always come along those few days before Tet which often made me mislabel Tet for being my most disliked holiday of the year.
This hassle better be worth it!!
Thankfully I was always proven wrong by the end of the day. Tet is one of the two family celebrations (the other being Christmas) where all of the family members are present and enjoying each other’s company. It’s the perfect friendly reminder I need to show how blessed I am to be part of such a bonded family. Although the most joyous family member, Cau Khoi, is no longer with us, we tried our best to keep the family tradition alive by planning his “favorite” Tet activity; gambling! (With good sportsmanship that our dear uncle never fails to demonstrate)
Chuc mung nam moi!
One last cheer for the lunar new year! (We decided to bust out some last minute champagne while cleaning up after the party)
